I am attorney Kelly A. Damm, and my Ithaca law office is dedicated to providing skilled and caring legal representation to individuals and families throughout the surrounding areas. I earned my J.D. from Albany Law School in 1999 and was admitted to practice law in New York in 2000. Since then, my mission has been to offer clients stellar legal counsel and trial advocacy in an array of practice areas, including:

  • Family law — Adoptions, abuse and neglect, family offenses, divorce, property division, child support, custody and visitation, paternity, attorney for the children and more
  • Criminal law — Driving while intoxicated (DWI), traffic violations, drug offenses, hate crimes, hazing, juvenile delinquency, murder and all other charges

In every case, my clients' best interests are paramount. I also understand that every client is a unique individual with unique legal needs. For this reason, I work hard to fully answer my clients' questions, carefully listen to their stories and craft creative solutions to their concerns.

I am also proud to support the local community in numerous ways. I am a member of the Better Business Bureau, the Tompkins County Bar Association, the Finger Lakes Women's Bar Association, Running 2 Places and the Ithaca Rotary Club. I also support charitable organizations such as the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes, the Special Olympics, the SPCA and Hospicare in Tompkins County.

Schedule an initial consultation with me, trial lawyer Kelly A. Damm, by calling my Ithaca office today. I look forward to talking with you.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
