I am attorney Ruth Brock, founder of the Law Office of Ruth Brock in Flower Mound, Texas. In practice since 1977, I have established a respected reputation in the areas of real estate, probate, business law and estate planning. I am board certified in both residential and commercial real estate by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. I am also a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas, an exclusive association that provides twice as much continuing legal education as most attorneys receive.

While I am an experienced litigator, I have discovered that my real passion lies in the transactional field. I enjoy focusing on language refinement for clear and concise documents, as well as educating my clients on their responsibilities under the documents I prepare. From drafting real estate purchase and sales agreements, to reviewing business contracts, to guiding families through the complexities of the probate process, I take pride in offering personalized attention to each client.

I have been honored with multiple awards, including Reader's Choice of Denton County, "First Place/Best Lawyer" in 2001 and 2003, and "Best Lawyer" by Neighbors' Choice Awards in June 2009. I am also Chair of the Real Estate, Probate and Trust Law section of the Denton County Bar Association and a member of the Texas Bar Association and the Flower Mound Bar Association.

I am pleased to serve as a Mentor with the Denton County Bar Association Transitions to Practice Mentoring Project 2012-2013.

From my office in Flower Mound, I handle transactional matters throughout the DFW metroplex, including in Lewisville, Grapevine, Dallas, Fort Worth and beyond.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
