This firm is extremely unethical and needs to shut down. Their lack of communication and knowledge is embarrassing. They will charge you for things they don't do correctly or even at all. They will just extend your case every 60 days and not do anything during that time. They have no business being in family law. You will be passed around to a different lawyer and will be charged for them to redo what the previous one claimed to already do. After almost a year of them jerking my case around I hired a new lawyer at a new firm and in five months everything was handled and over with. This firm should be ashamed for their actions. I believe they just bring in as many clients as they can without being able to represent them properly and they eventually just leave and find a new lawyer after wasting money on this firm.

Moving my trust from Oregon to Arizona was made smoothly with changes in benefactors and appointments were made to accommodate me. I have recommended this firm to my friends.

f you need a lawyer to push paperwork with no fight, this would be a great lawyer for you. If you are a woman trying to get justice after enduring significant abuse by your spouse, I would not recommend at all. My mother hired Jon Dodd late 2019. The divorced was finalized on their wedding anniversary. Something Jon referred to as ironic. My mother was a battered woman of forty years. She walked away with less than 25% of their assets despite the fact that she raised his children and kept home for him for four decades. When my mother told Mr. Dodd she was a battered woman, he told her it was irrelevant because she never left. Even though he was aware that she tried multiple times. He often took my fathers side and would tell my mother she could walk away with nothing if she fought. It got far worse.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
