At the Law Offices of Charles W. Kranstuber, we are dedicated to providing skilled, aggressive, and ethical legal representation to victims of on the job injuries. Our practice consists exclusively of representing injured workers before the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and the Ohio Industrial Commission.

Every day, individuals are injured on the job resulting in sometimes severe injuries. Workers' compensation in Ohio is a "no fault" system. This means that if a worker is injured in the course and scope of their employment, workers' compensation coverage may be available. This is regardless of fault.

The injured worker is often taken advantage of because he or she does not know his or her legal rights. The employer will most likely have representation. It is therefore important that the injured worker also have effective representation. After a claim is allowed, there are many benefits which he or she may be entitled to under Ohio workers' compensation law. These include but are not limited to temporary total compensation for time off work, permanent partial compensation for permanent disability, permanent total disability benefits, wage loss compensation, and payment of medical benefits.

There are many rules and laws which govern the receipt of these benefits, and it is therefore important that you seek legal advice from an attorney who will represent your interest.

If you have been injured at work, you should immediately contact us so that we can make sure that you are receiving all the benefits that are available to you. There is no charge for this initial consultation. In addition, no fees are paid by you unless we are successful in obtaining compensation, although you are responsible for costs.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like to discuss your case. Please be assured that you will receive a prompt response. We will take the time to listen to your situation and advise you of your rights.

There are many time limitations that apply to workers' compensation claims, so it is recommended that you contact our office as soon as possible. Remember, only your lawyer works for you and has your legal interests at heart. You want someone to represent your interests. Do not rely on your employer or the workers' compensation claims examiner to protect your interests. You need to have a lawyer working for you.

Feel free to contact us for a free consultation. We look forward to hearing from you.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
