My company and its principals enthusiastically endorse, and strongly recommend, Karen Tripp, Esq. We selected Karen Tripp as our company's patent attorney after interviewing several firms, which decision has proven to be one of the best decisions by our company. Indeed, many firms can draft and file patent applications. For us, Karen's approach and results set her apart from other attorneys we've worked with. In particular, we have benefited from Karen's extensive experience navigating the patent process to a success end, from patent examiner interviews/conference calls to procedures and strategies for overcoming objections. We have benefited from Karen's perfectionist work ethic and her thorough approach to contemplating additional embodiments and product extensions for our inventions, above and beyond what we initially communicated to her. Significantly, we have benefited from Karen's creativity which was integral in us overcoming what seemed to be the last of several rejections on our most important patent that ultimately cleared. In this sense -- Karen rolling up her sleeves with us to explore possible design arguments, redesign alternatives and differentiating aspects as between our invention and cited patents -- Karen served as a critical partner that made the difference in the positive outcome. For all these reasons, we can draw a straight line between Karen's skill sets and devotion to her craft and our impressive and growing U.S. and international patents that are the foundation of our success. We are fortunate to have found and partnered with Karen who, notably also, is as wonderful a person as she is an exceptionally talented attorney. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions about the foregoing as we are happy to discuss further. Mike Insalaco, CPA, Esq. Founder, Managing Member Socket Solutions, LLC

Karen is very knowledgeable in the are of patents and trade marks. She did a good job for us from the preparation of information through the arbitration of our case. We finished in arbitration which is a good thing. You never really want to go to court, if you can negotiate a good resolution.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
