I?ve dealt with lawyers for over 20 years and I can tell you that Robert Hakim is one of the most punctual and astute lawyers I?ve ever retained. Trust, transparency, and communication are words that come to mind when I think of my dealings with Mr. Hakim. I had two summary offenses that occurred in late 2017 in DTLA. Due to a miscommunication with court scheduling in which I was unable to attend, two warrants were issued for my arrest for a failure to appear. Time went on and I thought I had paid off the summons but in reality I had two warrants out for my arrest and I didn?t even know it! In June of 2018 I left Los Angeles to visit my family back home in Philadelphia PA. In a crazy turn of unexpected events, I became a survivor of an attempted robbery in which I was shot at three times and left paralyzed (T10) from the waist down. Due to this catastrophic injury I was unable to return to California and resume my career as an IATSE Local 80 Grip Technician in the film industry; instead I was stuck in Philadelphia PA rehabbing what was left of my broken body. While in PA, I ended up getting mail forwarded to me from LA stating that I had two warrants out for my arrest due to my failure to appear for the two summons in 2017. I went online and searched for a reputable lawyer and after much deliberation I decided to contact Robert. He walked me through every step of the process and did so in an honest and transparent manner. Any questions or inquires I had for Robert throughout this process he answered in an extremely punctual manner via email or phone conference. This is very very important my friends, not all lawyers are ?good? people, some lawyers are charlatans and slick talking hucksters, some lawyers once they are retained and paid for, all of a sudden become hard to get a hold of, but that was not the case with Robert, not even in the slightest bit! Robert kept an open line of communication with me throughout this whole process. In the end, Robert was able to get a COMPLETE VICTORY for us and got both of my summary offenses DISMISSED with no points on my record and no violations whatsoever...they were both dismissed entirely! At the time of these dismissals I had left PA and permanently relocated to South Florida to partake in physical therapy in an attempt to continue to heal from this debilitating paralysis. Robert litigated both cases for me in CA and I never had to step foot in CA or any courtroom for that matter being that I was unable to travel from FL to CA due to my paralysis. I cannot thank Robert enough for how he has helped my family and I get through this very rough time in our lives. I would recommend Robert as counsel in a heartbeat to anyone looking for an efficient lawyer! Robert Hakim is a good lawyer but more importantly a great HUMAN!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
