2.5 out of 5 stars

I hired the lawyer named Aglaia Papadopoulos-Vlantes in this firm for my traffic ticket. This person does not like to take "Unsafe Driving" because she thinks the insurance company does not like them. So she advised me to take 2 points on my license. I followed her advice and now I am not sure how this is going to affect my premiums in NJ. I am little disappointed that somone's personal preference is interfering with Professional advice they would give their clients especially in their legal work. Also she did not know whether I can remove my 2 points every 3 or every 5 years by taking defensive driving course in NJ. I had to do my own research and find out it is every 5 years and not 3 as she mentioned. By the way this is why we hire lawyers to get such advice. Why would we need professional help? Just to stand in front of the judge and to say 'Good Morning' and 'Good Afternoon' in a civil case like traffic ticket. My experience in this case is sub-optimal and would not hire them again. I found them through my MetLife Legal Plans and I am going to give this feedback to MetLife as well.

We have had the pleasure of having Aglaia Papadopoulos-Vlantes represent us on various legal matters for the past several years. From wills to real estate transactions to civil matters, Aglaia has consistently counseled us with adapt professionalism, extensive knowledge, and genuine concern and care for our well-being. Her advice and recommendations have always been sound, practical, direct, and results-oriented. And listening to her has served us well with each of our cases having a successful outcome. She has represented us with the tireless dedication and legal expertise that one would expect from a good family member. One of the more difficult matters she handled and negotiated for us was a year-long real estate transaction made difficult due to unrealistic sellers who resisted making repairs required for insurance coverage. Aglaia fought hard for us, keeping us informed of developments, and advising us of alternative that would best serve us. At all turns and in all cases, Aglaia has been incredibly responsive and we knew our interests were her priorities and would be well-protected. She has earned our total confidence and is a pleasure to work with. I can say without reservation "she is the BEST" and cannot recommend her more highly.

I was recommended to attorney Aglaia Papadopoulos, by my banker, in a municipal Court matter. My banker told me ?she is the best and knows what she is doing?. That was 12 years ago. Since then, her office handled the purchase of my homes, the sale of my wife?s business, our divorce and so many other matters. However, the most important matter Ms. Papadopoulos handled for me was my job. I have been working for years and I was paying for my pension that came out of my pay-check, only to find out my employer never registered me to collect my pension. Ms. Papadopoulos worked long and hard and dealt with every bureaucratic person and agency under the sun, until she made sure my pension was established and all the moneys I paid have been credited. Once this great task was accomplished, ALL my fellow workers realized what happened. There is NO better attorney to handle your case of any kind. I consider myself privileged to have an attorney like Ms. Papadopoulos. I am writing this after so many years, because Ms. Papadopoulos is worthy of praise and gratitude. Jorge Perez

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
