Russell S. Manning is a Partner with Byrd & Wiser, the premiere business/commercial law and litigation firm serving the Mississippi Gulf Coast and surrounding areas. Mr. Manning was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on November 29, 1977. He grew up in Gulfport, Mississippi and graduated from Gulfport High School.
He attended the University of Mississippi from 1996 to 2000 where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. After completion of his undergraduate work, Mr. Manning moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee where he worked in outside sales.
In 2003, Mr. Manning began his legal studies at Mississippi College School of Law. While in law school, he clerked for the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office and the law firm of Wilkes & McHugh, P.A. He received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law in 2006.
Mr. Manning is licensed to practice law in all state and federal courts in Mississippi and Alabama, as well as the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, Louisiana. Prior experience includes employment with the Mississippi Development Authority, where his focus was on the Community Development Block Grant and Loan Programs awarded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and administered by the MDA . The programs were created to assist the victims of Hurricane Katrina in their recovery efforts and to rebuild the Mississippi Gulf Coast after the storm.
Mr. Manning began work for Byrd & Wiser in September of 2009. Since then, Mr. Manning has gained valuable experience in numerous facets of the law, including but not limited to, bankruptcy, creditor’s rights, residential and commercial real estate litigation, business services and litigation, contract drafting and enforcement litigation, estate planning and administration, and construction litigation. He has tried numerous cases at the state and federal level, as plaintiff’s counsel and defense counsel, with favorable outcomes for his clients.
Mr. Manning is a member of the Harrison County Bar Association and the Mississippi Bankruptcy Conference. He resides in Gautier, Mississippi and enjoys fishing and playing golf.
