Hired Jeanna Raney at this lawfirm to resolve a matter. The matter was never resolved, I had to contact her multiple times to remind her to make contact with the recipient of our legal matter. I was charged over $1,000 for ?4 hours worth of work? when all the lawyer did was send a cease and desist letter on our behalf which maybe took her 20 minutes, and then the following month she made a 30 minute phone call with the recipient to go over the legal agreement which was not brought to a resolution even. I was charged $295 per hour, yet they can provide no proof of what they did for the 4 hours of work. Call logs with the recipient shows they spoke for 30 minutes total one day, 10 minute another. Definitely a crooked law firm that just takes on any client that calls and then doesn?t put in the work but sends large bills for their lack of work completed. Like I said, nothing was resolved and having a good lawyer would have resolved this matter rather quickly. Switched representation to someone who agreed to only accept payment if the matter gets resolved since it was not a time consuming task and they wanted to prove their ability to fix our problem and insisted our first lawyer was not competent on the matter to not have it resolved but billed highly for work that wasn?t done. Wish I did more research on the company but oh well. Found a better attorney and better lawfirm to help out going forward that has better reviews.

Jen Behme is the absolute worst attorney ever! Would not meet or take my calls at all or do one single thing she was asked to do and blaming Covid on her laziness and ineptitude. Kept trying to email another clients documents to me over and over and over then attempting to be billing me for that time, then billing me for billing me, all the while not having ever met or talked on phone, canceled my zoom call and then said she was going out of office when the office admin already stated she was in the office!! Behme is a TOTAL SLEEZEBALL HUMAN FILTH OF THE EARTH!!! STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS IDIOT.

I HAVE BEEN SELLING REAL ESTATE SINCE 1973 WITH A LICENSE IN ILLINOIS, KENTUCKY, AND MISSOURI. I FIRST MET ED BLAKE AND HIS WIFE IRENE IN THE LATE 1980?S AT THE CLOSING OF A FARM THEY WERE PURCHASING THRU A YOUNG FRIEND OF MINE, IT WAS HIS FIRST SALE AND HE ASKS ME TO GO WITH HIM EVEN THOUGH I HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SUBJECT PROPERTY. AT THE CLOSING I NOTICED HOW KNOWLEDGABLE ED WAS WITH REAL ESTATE ISSUES WHICH WAS UNUSUAL FOR MOST PEOPLE, EVEN ATTORNEYS UNLESS THEY HANDLE THEM FREQUENTLY. ED LATER CALLED ME ABOUT ANOTHER PROPERTY, AFTER THAT AND FOR ABOUT THE NEXT THIRTY YEARS I RECOMMENDED HIM TO SEVERAL CLIENTS WHO HAD PROPERTY ISSUES PLUS ISSUES WITH THEIR ESTATES, IN ADDITION TO THAT, MY REAL ESTATE COMPANY, MY FAMILY AND MYSELF HAVE USED HIM FOR VARIOUS LEGAL MATTERS WITH FULL CONFIDENCE. ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS I SAW HIM SAVE FAMILY ESTATES FROM CERTAIN DESASTER

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
