Dealing with the pain and loss of income caused by a serious work injury is difficult enough. At the same time you may have to make legal and medical decisions that will affect your health, your job, and your financial future. Workers’ Compensation cases can become very complicated. With so much at stake, can you afford to rely on the insurance adjuster and the company doctor to fully inform or protect you?
The simple fact of the matter is the insurance adjuster works for the insurance company and their job is to save the insurance company money. The company doctor may be completely competent and honest, or not. The only thing you know for sure is that these people do not work for you.
Larsen & Hess, P.C. will work for you. We handle Workers’ Compensation cases only. Each of our partners has over 20 years of experience. Although past success does not guarantee success in any particular case, we have successfully tried hundreds of cases and have handled claims at every administrative and judicial level both in Missouri and in Illinois, including both the Missouri and Illinois Supreme Courts.
Each of our partners has been asked to speak at Continuing Legal Education programs on Workers’ Compensation. We actively support politicians who protect worker’s rights and we are active members of organizations that promote a pro-worker agenda. We take our jobs seriously and are proud to serve working men and women in Missouri and Illinois.
As a small firm, we provide personal attention to all of our clients. When you come in to talk to us, or whenever you have a problem you’ll talk to a lawyer, not a paralegal. At the same time, we have the financial resources and experience with the medical community, necessary to make sure that every claim is fully investigated and properly prepared. We serve a large community ranging from Eastern Missouri to South and Central Illinois.
May we serve you? The initial consultation is free and we charge no fee unless you win.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
