I have practiced criminal defense for 30 years in Washington. If I or a family member were accused of a serious felony I would, without hesitation, hire Amy and her team to defend me or a loved one. I have worked with Amy and her team as co-counsel on serious cases and always come away impressed with their attention to detail and thoroughness. Amy and her team are highly regarded by their peers, both in Washington as well as the national stage.

I have had the great good fortune to know and work with Amy for over seventeen years. She is an immensely talented attorney in every area of her legal practice, including client communication, legal analysis, legal research, and in jury trials. She's provided me with invaluable advice when I've most needed it; her expertise in her areas of practice is well known among the legal community. She is highly respected as both a practitioner and as an instructor, teaching other lawyers how to better represent clients facing serious criminal charges. I should add that she's a very compassionate person with a great sense of humor. I don't think prosecutors are happy when they learn that Amy's representing someone they so badly want to convict.

THE UNVARNISHED TRUTH FROM AN ATTORNEY WITH 30 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: I have had the opportunity to work closely with Amy Muth on several complex cases, including on one case that proceeded to trial. In my 30 years of practice, I have had several co-counsel on cases, but none of the quality of Amy. It is hard to be good at every aspect of being a criminal defense attorney, but somehow Amy manages to do it all incredibly well. She is empathic and a good communicator with clients and their families. She is a fierce advocate and relentless negotiator. She is creative in her approach to cases and one of the hardest workers I have done a case with. She is organized and practical - she knows what is most important to pursue and develop in her cases. She is aware of all legal developments in her practice areas. She is a highly capable trial attorney who has been in trial on complex cases. She is admired, feared and respected by prosecutors. She is viewed as a resource for her colleagues. She knows where to devote client resources and has transparent billing practices. She approaches her cases with kindness and a non-judgmental approach. She has cultivated a deep network of experts and investigators to work with her on cases.

My family hired Amy to represent a loved one incarcerated for a crime that he sticks to his innocence on. Amy worked tirelessly to get to know his lengthy case, him and our family as a whole in just a few months time. I spent forever trying to find an attorney who was willing to represent him and none were experienced enough with DOC, end of sentence relief/post-conviction. Amy was able to be positive and optimistic but also made sure we knew things may not go in his favor and why. The first time I had a phone call with Amy I was immediately impressed by her ability to remember detail from transcripts that even our trial attorney we worked with for years couldn?t b.c it became an overwhelming amount of detail for anyone. Amy and her team are not just crazy intelligent, they are also kind and compassionate and get along with other parties & council which is huge. I would highly recommend Amy for anyone charged w/ or convicted of a sex offense. Because of Amy my husband will finally be coming home where he belongs. My only wish was that I heard of her years ago.

I was referred to Amy by another attorney I had consulted after they learned that my case was more complex than they were equipped to handle. Amy and her team reviewed the requirements, helped evaluate my chances of success, and did all the footwork to gather records from across the country. She had referrals ready for professional evaluators to support the petition and provided guidance on supporting letters. With all the pieces in place, Amy engaged the prosecutor to gain agreement with the action and countering her objections. And before I knew it, I was a tiny bit less constrained.

I never anticipated needing a lawyer. I'm a pretty average Joe. When I was charged I was so scared I had never previously came into contact with law enforcement. Amy, and her staff were incredibly skilled, professional, and strait forward with expectations. They advocated for me with all their reasruch abilities, investigators, and other experts at her firms disposal. They knew the exact steps needed in order to get my case dismissed. It was by far the most earth shattering experience in my life. I highly recommend Amy Muth due to her perseverance, experience, and ability to deliver the best available outcome. If you are charged with a crime contact Amy Muth and her team they helped me and they will help you too.

Lets be honest, Any time you think to yourself...I need a criminal defense lawyer. It's not the best day you have ever had and Amy helped me get through it all. Amy was a huge help with with my case and was clearly an expert in the phycology of what was going on. She was a huge asset at coming up with the objectives of the legal defense, a plan of execution and follow though. At the end of it all, I feel we got the best outcome we could considering the facts of the case. After reading her first motion, all I could say was "this is really good!!" and everyone after that had the same dedication of excellence. You will be glad of have her on your side!

When I found Amy I had been accused of 2 serious crimes and was terrified. She listened to my story, explained my situation and possible options, and answered all of my questions. I very much felt that she was genuinely concerned about myself and my family, and that meant a lot to me. She also obviously understood how things work with respect to my particular situation, which was reassuring and as I understand, not always the case with other lawyers. She had a real concern for the alleged victim, too. That was the first sign of the integrity that I would see consistently in the way she dealt with my case, and that I came to understand was the reason she is so well respected. Throughout the entire process she kept me well informed, worked closely with me on strategy and making decisions, and did some impressive things that had very positive results for me. She is well connected and well respected by her peers, as I have learned from several of them, and I see why. I would hire her again in a heartbeat, (although I'm sure that won't be necessary.) And I would highly recommend her to anyone accused of or charged with the type of offense she deals with.

Initially I tried filing this petition on my own, it was a fiasco you wouldn?t believe. After 2 days of getting the run around I knew I needed an experienced attorney. I did my due diligence looking for an attorney in Seattle regarding a petition for release. Amy Muth was the only one out of over a dozen local attorneys that really knew the answers and more importantly had years of experience. This petition is not a simple procedure. It can go off the rails in a big way and it almost did for me. Legal services needs an attorney that is REALLY ON YOUR SIDE! I know from firsthand experience Amy Muth is that attorney. Not only because I was granted my petition but because she really cares about her clients! By the end of it all Amy had not only successfully finished my petition, stood by me in court and prepared me for what was to come, she also imparted some important personal insights onto me. She brought my case through to fruition with professionalism, character and honesty. Some things like that money can?t buy. I got so much more than just representation and filing with Amy. Thank you Amy Muth Attorney at law, for all the time, effort and patience you gave me and my family! Dan

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
