Robert G. Goldsmith has been a licensed California attorney for over 24 years and has limited his practice to the counties of Orange, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino. His entire practice is devoted to resolution of family law issues such as: dissolution of marriage, legal separation, child custody and visitation, child support, spousal support, property division, post judgment modifications, paternity and domestic violence. Although all of our clients will interact with our caring and professional support staff, Mr. Goldsmith will personally provide the individualized attention and representation that each client needs and deserves.

Even though each case is different and comes with a unique set of facts and circumstances, our approach always begins by working with the client to create a litigation strategy that is designed to help the client achieve his or her objectives in a way that is compatible with his or her unique circumstances. This approach reduces disputes, litigation fees and anxiety while putting the client in the best position to obtain his or her objectives through an amicable settlement. However, when settlement is not possible, Mr. Goldsmith excels at helping the client obtain a favorable resolution by taking the matter to trial.

Robert G Goldsmith is an amazing lawyer. I will always remember his eloquent emails where he would slam the other side back after they threw a particularly nasty bomb our way. He also had no problem telling me when I was reacting emotionally. I respect that because that also helped my case. In the end of a world of 50/50 custody I received 73% thanks to Robert's guidance. I recommend him to everyone I know who needs a good divorce lawyer.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
