Hired to take care of an eviction. Took the money, filed the papers in the wrong court, made a complete mess of the situation. Save your money. Go to someone else. Any good reviews are probably posted by friends or employees.

I hired him to answer a summons from a former landlord of my daughter. He asked for a retainer of 1500 dollars . I called him numerous time to let me know what happened with the case and which were his fees. I dont think that 1500 dollars will be a fee to answer a summon. Has past three years and never got a call or an email. I just feel that he took my money.DO NOT HIRE HIM!!

He did not serve the Petition to evict tenants. He knew he did not serve it and wasted from September 2021 until February 2022 making me lose rent. The Judge dismissed my case due to Seth Rosenfeld's process server only going one day, twice in the same day and not documenting attempts to find where the tenants were. Seth Rosenfeld then lied to me that the case was dismissed due to the dispute whether the Petition was served. Seth then tried to get me to waste MORE time appealing the Judge's decision when Seth was clearly wrong. I asked to see the Motion to Dismiss. Seth would not let me see it. Seth NEVER let me see the Judge's decision. I told Seth I would rather close the case, file again and serve the papers again, correctly. Seth did not do what I wanted. He wanted to do what he wanted, appeal. His process server broke my door and let the tenant blame me for it. Seth did not let me see the affidavit of the tenant. DO NOT TAKE THIS CREEP! For one month I sent him emails and telephoned him to close my case, file again and serve again. He ignored me. I lost $2100 retainer fee and many months rent and am still stuck with these evil tenants. I am now suing him. He did this to other people also. Look at other reviews.

I reached out to Seth Rosenfeld during the start of the COVID pandemic for help dealing with my aggressive and harassing landlord trying to evict us. This harassment persisted despite the COVID protections that were in place. After Seth found out out that I was a front-line healthcare worker actively working during the pandemic he generously offered to represent me and my family for no charge. Our landlords have made us (myself, wife and two small children) quite uncomfortable but after one firm letter from Seth, the tone of the relationship between us and our landlord completely changed. The landlord left us alone and the harassment stopped. It was the first victory he accomplished for us but this provided us with much needed relief. Later, we found out that through Seth's help and guidance, we were awarded a check for 15 months of total unpaid rent by the ERAP NYS programs. Seth has always been courteous, professional and kind. I can't say enough good things about how helpful and generous Seth has been to me and my family. If you are searching for an attorney like I was and you are just looking for someone who not only understands the law and your rights but will see you as a person and fight for you, Seth Rosenfeld is the professional that you should chose.

Great lawyer he fought for my rights with my slumlord sleazy lawyer, that was trying to get over by tampering with the paper work, then lying to the judge that was wen the case first started and I had two other lawyers that wen along with him, wich they turn out to be fraud and I end up firing both of them, till I met Mr Rosenfeld and he straighten up the hall case with the judge and set the slumlord sleazy lawyer straight. I highly recommend him!!!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
