Consulted Attorney 2023Straight trash. I never even got to view my own case/discovery. Even though I asked for it a billion times. Was told that it would be delivered to me via email. That was like 2 years ago. That information was and still is held from me. Which is illegal in itself but I am not going to fight with it because it’s not even worth it. I ended up offering myself a plea deal, because I knew I was eligible for it but they never did offer it to me. Which if this had been all new to me I would have taken a charge and felony in my record and I would have had to pay lots of money to have it expunged.. And I get it, why would he NOT help me? Doesn’t he get paid more if we take it to trial and beat it? No. Court appointed lawyers are government paid. They get paid either way you win or lose. And so he has no motivation to help you. But while it’s fresh on my mind for whoever is reading this and has this man as their court appointed attorney I would definitely find the first reason you can to switch to someone else. Thank God it wasn’t my first time in jail and I had my feet dipped a little bit because if you had to depend on this guy for information because it’s your first time or something similar then I’m sorry you’re screwed!!! He never answers the phone, never answers questions, he doesn’t seem to give a f*** about his clients. Does not reach out to you. Which listen.. he probably gets a lot of cases, and it’s a lot of repetitive bs.. I get it.. I really do, but guess what Mr. Register, there’s the door baby. If you can’t deal with people anymore then maybe you’re in the wrong business.. forreal some of these people actually care about their life and made some bad choices, due to addiction or trauma in their lives. It is not for you to judge really that’s what the Judge is for.. but anyways, Mr. Register if you ever find yourself reading this review I hope you decide to turn over a new leaf and have an open mind and heart to the job you committed yourself to. Nobody asked you to be who you are, you made that decision all by yourself. Don’t take your regrets and choices out on other people. Change your perspective. Okay bye.

Hired Attorney 2015Harold Register III is a great attorney. In 2015, I was facing a schedule 1 possession charge and I was terrified that I would receive a lengthy sentence. Harold, as my public defender, was able to have my case dismissed on the grounds of no probable cause. I got a second chance at life thanks to Harold's fine work, and I have since made a better life for myself and am now in college with a 4.0gpa. This wouldn't have been possible without the help of this man, and I am forever grateful.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
