5.0 out of 5 stars

I was falsely accused of assault during a child custody case. The false allegations led to me being arrested. I contacted Smith and Vinson Law and met with both Brad and Jarrod. From the beginning, I was impressed. They believed me, they worked hard to gather all the evidence needed to clear me of the wrong doing, and fought the court endlessly. The charges were eventually dismissed. After a couple years, I reached out again to expunge my record. Jarrod and Elise both fought the court?s delays and were able to secure the expunction. While I hope I never have to deal with Smith and Vinson Law, if I ever got in a situation where I did need them, they will be the first people I call. I strongly recommend them to anyone who wants to win their case.

Payal and Brad are tremendous attorneys. They were aggressive, and fierce and did not stop fighting for my case until we got a dismissal. Switched over from another attorney's office and couldn't have made a better decision!

Insanely credible trial lawyers. Many not guilty verdicts and case dismissals

Jarrod is a very helpful lawyer and I was so glad that they had staff that were fluent in spanish, because that is hard to find. I would use them again if I need an Austin lawyer!

Excellent firm. It is hard to beat the responsiveness and reasonable prices that Smith and Vinson offers. From the beginning, I trusted them and knew I was in good hands every step of the way.

Excellent law firm. Brad and Jarrod will fight hard to get your criminal charge dismissed. They are not afraid of the DA. Will work hard for you.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
