DO NOT HIRE! Deborah drug my case on for 7 months with no advancement. She never learned my case. She threatened to share my personal case info online saying I left my daughter with a stranger. Which is furthest from truth. Showing she never even Learned my case. Extremely unapproachable. She's more into defending criminals instead of helping a client get her daughter who was legally kidnapped. I finally got a new lawyer and found out she didn't even have the right paperwork! My new lawyer has already filed within a week. Not only is Deborah incompetent she shouldn't be a lawyer. Was always looking down on me.

Ms Blum was completely unprofessional, was rude, not helpful. I did all the work. She had my case for 7 months. Finally I requested a new lawyer because it's a time sensitive case ( which she couldn't have cared less) I felt judged from my own lawyer. She accomplished nothing. Was too busy with her criminal case. She refers to herself as" Deborah the defender" more like Deborah the pretender" beware of her lies. She had every excuse in the book to not work on my case. I finally got a new lawyer( which Deborah was supposed to hand over EVERYTHING in regards to my case but did not begrudgingly. Leaving out critical information. She's u professional and shouldn't even have a law license. I'm reporting her to the bar. Oh yeah and threatened me to share that I left my daughter with a stranger which is furstest from the truth. Showing she had no idea about my case. Take my word DO NOT hire this con artist. Save yourself precious time and money.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
