Did our estate planning with Ron Lanza. We were very pleased with his knowledge and expertise. He made us feel very comfortable and provided answers to our questions and concerns. He was very professional, patient and thorough in answering questions and provided explanations and examples when needed. We were very happy doing business with Mr. Lanza.

Peace of mind is a valuable gift, especially when a much loved family member is living in a different state and legal help is necessary. Jaclyn Kramer gave our family this gift. I made a stressful road trip from Tennessee to New York to help an elderly sister with her legal affairs. Ms. Kramer met with us and did an amazing job of sorting through the legal complexities to weave a seamless solution to our legal dilemma. She is a rock star. Job well done.

Futterman, Lanza and Pacsculli took over the practice of the attorney who created my mother?s will and advised my family on estate planning. When it was time to go through the process for home care eligibility for my parents, we met with Aaron Futterman, who laid out what would be needed. Melissa Schmuel gave us terrific guidance and lead us through the paperwork process for home care. Six months after getting some home care for my parents, their health declined. The managed long term care company wrongly denied the request to increase their home care hours. We had to appeal this decision. Michelle Gegwich did an amazing job putting together the successful appeal. Thanks to the work of this team, a wrong was righted and my mother will now get the care hours she needs. This could not have been possible without them. I highly recommend them for any elder care planning.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
