I don't live in Hudson, although I had heard good things about this firm. I hired Aaron Nelson as my defense attorney for a felony drug charge. He managed to work out a deal to offer a deferred acceptance of a guilty plea. I was given a year of unsupervised probation, and after a year all charges were dismissed. Aaron Nelson is a great attorney and helped me avoid a criminal conviction. Highly reccomended.

Nelson Defense Group, and Attorney Aaron Nelson are A+ in legal representation, their approach to working with clients, and the breadth of knowledge and resources they can bring to a case. Going through a criminal process is beyond scary for the layperson, and Aaron takes the time to teach, coach and enable dialog that provides understanding and comfort. The office staff, especially Connie, helped me to feel comfortable and supported as well. I never felt alone. I would (and will) recommend Nelson Defense to anyone as they navigate the legal/criminal challenges they face. Thank you Aaron!

As an Illinois driver, I was charged with my first OWI in Wisconsin. IL treats out-of-state OWI convictions very harshly, with a lifetime revocation of driving privileges (minimum of 12 months for 1st conviction, but you need to reapply to get them back and that is a difficult process). I needed top notch legal support to help me aggressively fight this charge. Attorney Adam Nero was that, and more. He was able to secure me a reduced, non-alcohol related charge, that resulted in only a fine and no impact to driving privileges. I'm incredibly grateful to the support he provided as he helped me through my first ever legal trouble. He was clear, practical, fact driven, and was always transparent on where things were at. His team is highly responsive and provides a personalized touch. His in-depth knowledge of the case, all the details, and the law, was well ahead of the prosecution and gave me the edge that resulted in the win. I am so thankful to have had him in my corner.

I highly recommend Aaron and his team. I have hired them on a couple different occasions and both times I was very happy with the results. In times of uncertainty in situations I was facing they made me feel confident that everything would be ok and in the end it was. I truly appreciate Aaron and Connie and all they have done for me! This is the law firm you want on your side. -BT

I found myself in a serious bail jumping scenerio. By listening and allowing Adam Nero to show his expertise and make highly professional suggestions and recommended actions, I was able to avoid serious consequences such as jail time and, more importantly, a felony convistion. Outstanding lawyer who knows the law extremely well.

I was involved in a delicate situation that involved multiple layers of charges and needed the best representation that I could get. Hiring Adam Nero was the best decision I have ever made. His knowledge of the law is unmatched, combined with his calming presence and demeanor he is literally the perfect lawyer. His tireless work on my behalf was absolutely incredible! And I am able to say that he was able to have the major changes dismissed and was able to get me the minimum sentence on the lesser charge. If you want the best representation possible, hire Adam, plain and simple!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
