I find Ms. Richelle Gossman to be extremely caring, personally involved and knowledgable about all areas and unlike some she is willing to listen and devote her time in a patient manner. I would trust her experience and expertise anyday and have great faith in her.

My case was hopeless. Too complex for the first three attorney's that I called. Divorce, child custody for a man, and I was listening to friends who had no real legal experience. She educated me on the law and gave me several possible scenarios. My expectations were not legally possible. Because I listened to her. My daughter is now totally in my custody. My ex is in rehab. The divorce went through expeditiously and I did not have to refinance my home to win my case. So many attorneys only care ABOUT BILLING. SHE CARED ABOUT MY FAMILY. Thank you from the bottom of my heart Mrs. Gossman.

After my wife called and talked on the phone with Richelle I felt I would get at least 30 minutes of a consultation so I could at least explain my situation. I took time off of work, drove to her office and was given 10 minutes and then told I have people waiting. Yes? I had an appointment! She basically told me not to even try to get custody of my 15 year old son. Just let him stay with mom because going to court will mess him up. She didn?t even bother to listen to how bad things are with his mom.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
