I hired Mitt for a custody and child support case. The other party did not want to cooperate with me to have time with my kids, and working made it difficult for me to see my children. Mitt was at first being up front with me as to how the custody factors stacked against me. He tried mediation but the other party wouldn?t bulge. But at trial, Mitt presented the court with a compassionate story of my case, I was shocked when I ended up with more time with my kids than Mitt promised me. This man will go above and beyond for you. If he can?t do it for you, I don?t believe anyone else will. The biggest difference with him is how much he focuses on your story and struggle above all else in the case.

Mr. Jean: Francois was my counsel for a family matter & child support. He was the best attorney I have ever had. He treated my situation like it was his own. He guided me through confusing moments and helped me to understand my options one step at a time. He never over-promised but always over-delivered. My case was special to me, and he treated it like everything. Mr. Jean: Francois is not just an Attorney; he is a good man, and I am forever grateful for how he handled my case. Suppose you're looking for someone to stop here. " He's your guy"! Ms. Clay

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
