Carolyn Stough was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. She has a bachelor’s degree in history and minor in social justice from the University of Mary Washington and obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law. While at Richmond Law, Carolyn participated in the Children’s Defense Clinic, provided estate planning for residents of a low-income independent living facility through the Aging and Disability Law Practicum, and advocated for abused and neglected children as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), earning the Carrico Center Pro Bono Certificate.

Carolyn is passionate about assisting individuals in her community through the often difficult and confusing legal processes that involve families of all types and backgrounds. In addition to other family law matters, Carolyn’s interest areas include estate planning and disability rights law.

When she is not advocating for her clients, Carolyn enjoys reading, attending live theater, and spending time with her cat, Maggie.
