Attorney Information

Overview

Thomas Moran has always enjoyed the challenge of competition. He played varsity soccer at Providence College, graduated cum laude from Roger Williams University School of Law, and now maintains a plaintiffโ€™s litigation practice in three states.

A native of western Massachusetts, Moran came to Providence College on a soccer scholarship in 2000 and has remained in Rhode Island ever since. After earning a B.S. degree in finance in 2004, he embarked on a career in business development within the real estate law field.

Moran had long wanted to be a lawyer, however, so after eight years in the business world, he enrolled at Roger Williams University School of Law. He worked for two years as an intern in the general counselโ€™s office at Nortek, Inc., won a CALI Excellence Award for Personal Transactions, served on the executive board of the Phi Alpha Delta legal fraternity, and graduated with distinction.

By that time, Moran knew that he preferred to practice law on behalf of individuals instead of corporations, and joined the law firm of Weiss & Associates, where he handled a variety of legal matters. In joining Marasco & Nesselbush LLP in early 2016, Moran saw an opportunity to narrow his practice to plaintiffโ€™s litigation involving personal injury, products liability, and medical malpractice.

To Moran, itโ€™s work that provides personal fulfillment.

โ€œWhen people are injured in a car accident or a slip-and-fall or as the result of some kind of medical negligence, they often canโ€™t fight for themselves because they donโ€™t have that expertise, so they look to us to do that for them,โ€ he says. โ€œI think we play a very important role in our society to help those who sometimes are in a position where they canโ€™t help themselves.โ€

It also appeals to his competitive streak.

โ€œI do think my athletic background kind of lends itself to that,โ€ Moran says. โ€œWhen you get into the courtroom itโ€™s about being able to articulate your position based on all the due diligence youโ€™ve done up to that point. Itโ€™s like when it comes to game time, thatโ€™s when you put in place everything youโ€™ve practiced.โ€

In his spare time, Moran still plays soccer and is a fan of Providence College and Boston-area sports teams.
