Attorney Information

Overview

Paul A. Kettering graduated from the West Virginia University College of Law in 2011 and started his legal career working as a civil defense litigator for a firm in Morgantown, West Virginia. In 2013, he partnered with a lifelong friend and classmate to start Kettering Delligatti Law Offices in his hometown of Fairmont, West Virginia. At Kettering Delligatti, Paul continued to litigate civil claims for both Plaintiffs and Defendants while diversifying his practice to include criminal defense, commercial and residential real estate law, wills and estates, contracts, and municipal law. Over the course of his practice, Paul gained a wealth of experience in the courtroom, zealously advocating for his clients. Meanwhile, he was actively engaged in the legal community, gaining the trust and respect of his local colleagues. In 2016, he was elected Vice President of the Marion County, West Virginia Bar Association, and in 2017, was honored to serve as President. He also volunteered his free time to serve as assistant football coach for his alma mater, the Fairmont Senior High School Polar Bears.

Paul relocated to Charleston, South Carolina with his family and gained admission to the South Carolina Bar in 2022. Shortly thereafter, he continued his career as a litigator in North Charleston before joining the Headley Law Firm in July of 2023. Paul is thrilled to represent residents of his new home of South Carolina while continuing to serve clients in his beloved Mountain State.

Paul is licensed to practice in South Carolina, West Virginia, and the Northern and Southern Districts of West Virginia. He lives on James Island with his wife, Brigitte, their two children, James and Maisie, and their two dogs, Butter-Nut and Sunny. He enjoys playing basketball, spending time with his family, and coaching youth sports. Paul is a member of the Second Presbyterian Church of Charleston.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
