Brandon earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from East Tennessee State University while he worked full-time as a Correctional Officer in North Carolina. He went on to graduate with his Juris Doctorate degree from Elon University School of Law in Greensboro, NC, on a scholarship. In law school, Brandon was selected to complete the Summer Clerk program with the North Carolina Court of Appeals where he developed his research, writing, and legal analysis skills under the Honorable Judge Tobias S. Hampson. Brandon also served as a Research Assistant to Assistant Dean and Professor of Law Enrique Armijo where he tutored and helped teach fellow law students tort law. Additionally, while at Elon, Brandon was selected as an Advocacy Fellow and nominated to the Dean’s List.
Upon graduating law school, Brandon joined a personal injury firm in Asheville, NC, where he focused his practice on serious personal injury matters. Brandon eventually turned back towards public service when he joined the Tennessee District Attorney General’s Conference as an assistant district attorney in the First District of Tennessee, covering Washington County, TN. While serving as an assistant district attorney, he prosecuted serious criminal traffic charges for DUI, vehicular manslaughter, street racing, and other reckless and serious traffic charges. Brandon and his family relocated to Greenville, SC, to pursue representing client’s injured in personal injury claims, the area of law he considers his passion. Prior to joining Derrick Law Firm Injury Lawyers, Brandon was focused on serious motorcycle personal injury and wrongful death cases, which stemmed from his love of being on two wheels.
Brandon is licensed to practice law in South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, the United States District Court for the Western District of North Carolina, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians Tribal Court. In years 2022, 2024, and 2025, Brandon was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star (SC-Personal Injury) for his professional achievements and peer evaluations by the Super Lawyers organization.
