Fred Clelland - Chattanooga, TN

Fred Clelland was born in Holland, Michigan, and grew up in Knoxville, Tennessee. He attended The University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he received his undergraduate degree in 1986. He then entered the University of Tennessee’s joint JD/MBA program, receiving both his Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Jurisprudence degrees in 1990.

Since graduating from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Fred has been involved in a diverse litigation practice. During the first ten years of his legal career, he was a partner in a general practice law firm, where he handled a wide range of matters, including domestic relations, criminal defense, personal injury and civil litigation. In 1999, Fred joined Baker, Kinsman, Hollis & Clelland, P.C., where his practice focused primarily on general defense litigation, including the representation of insurance companies, their insureds and corporate entities.

In 2020, Fred joined Warren & Griffin, P.C. as a personal injury attorney, where he now represents individuals and families injured by the negligence of others. His practice includes automobile accidents, trucking accidents, injuries occurring on the job, workers’ compensation claims and other personal injury matters. His prior experience representing insurance companies gives him valuable insight into how claims are evaluated, defended and resolved.

Fred has tried cases in Circuit Court, Chancery Court and General Sessions Court, primarily in Hamilton County, Bradley County and throughout East and Middle Tennessee. He has also argued cases before the Tennessee Court of Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court. He is licensed to practice in Tennessee and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee.

In 2024, Fred helped spearhead the opening of Warren & Griffin’s Cleveland office on Stuart Road. The firm’s Cleveland location was recognized in the Cleveland Daily Banner’s 1st Place Reader’s Choice Awards.

Fred is a member of the Chattanooga Bar Association, the Tennessee Bar Association and the Brock-Cooper Inns of Court. He is married to his wife, Mary Ann, and they have two children, Emily and Mary Catherine. Fred and his family are members of First-Centenary United Methodist Church, and are involved in various other community service.
