Overview

To Christy Bartee, the most important thing an attorney can do is listen to their client and work with them to accomplish a common goal. “I love working with people to resolve complicated issues and life decisions,” says Christy. While Christy’s practice includes real estate, social security disability, estate planning/probate, domestic, business/corporate, and banking, her passion is Agricultural Law.

Though she wasn’t raised on a farm herself, the Springfield, TN native has agriculture in her blood. Both of her parents grew up on farms, and her maternal grandparents worked and lived on a farm that was in the family for almost 100 years. While Christy’s parents both had “town jobs,” Christy and her family raised registered and commercial cattle.

Christy always had a deep appreciation for agriculture and farming, but she felt called to a different path and left her hometown to blaze her own trail. Her journey led her a few hours west to a little town called Martin, Tennessee, and the University of Tennessee at Martin. She went on to graduate magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Following undergrad, she attended law school at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

Returning to Her Roots

After graduation, Christy began practicing law in her hometown of Springfield at the Law Offices of Larry D. Wilks under the guidance of the late Larry D. Wilks. Her practice at the time focused in the areas of Real Estate Law, Contract Law, Estate Planning, Probate, and Social Security Disability. She enjoyed and excelled in these practice areas, but also felt a calling to return to her roots, and agricultural law. After years of developing her practice in the area, she realized her expertise could help those in the business of agriculture.

“I realized as an adult that agriculture was the lifeblood of our community,” said Christy. “In agricultural law, I could work with farmers and other businesses in the ag community to navigate business and personal issues that are concerning and jeopardize agriculture.”

When Batson Nolan opened an office in Springfield in 2004, Christy joined the firm as an associate and never looked back. In 2013, Christy became a Member of the firm. Under Christy’s helm, Batson Nolan's Springfield Office has grown into the thriving law practice it remains today.

Community-Minded

In her free time, Christy dedicates her time to many local causes. She is the past president of the Board of Directors for CASA of Robertson County and past Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Robertson County Chamber of Commerce and Women in Business Committee.

“I believe it is important to give back to our community,” says Christy. “I am focused on working with the youth to build strong leaders.” She and her husband, John, coach the 4-H livestock judging team for Robertson County, and she helps coordinate an Educational Series for the Montgomery County Area Better Beef Show. Christy is also a very active 4-H volunteer.

She also enjoys showing and raising cattle (Simmental, Club Calves, and Chiangus) with her husband and son. An avid horse lover, she also counts running barrel horses and cooking among her many hobbies.
