David A. Siegel concentrates his practice in the areas of personal injury and catastrophic injury. Mr. Siegel obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law. In 2007, the American Bar Association presented Mr. Siegel with the prestigious Edmund Muskie Pro Bono Award in San Francisco, California. He has been listed as a Super Lawyer in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 by Law & Politics magazine and named in the Top 100 Super Lawyers in Tennessee in 2010, 2011, and 2015 and the Top 50 Super Lawyers in Memphis in 2015. For the 2004-2005 year, Mr. Siegel received the “Special Recognition Award” for “extraordinary service” in a single, complex and controversial case. In 2006, Mr. Siegel received the “Humanitarian Award” from the Greater Memphis United Chinese Association. Mr. Siegel was also recognized as one of the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers” by the American Trial Lawyers Association for the years 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011.
Mr. Siegel was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court in connection with a highly publicized case which garnered both national and international attention. He has been featured on CNN’s Larry King Live, ABC’s Good Morning America and 20/20, CBS’s The Early Show, Court TV, PBS, and a variety of other national and local broadcasts. Mr. Siegel has been interviewed and quoted by The New York Times, People Magazine, Ladies’ Home Journal, USA Today, and numerous newspapers throughout the country. In 2010, Mr. Siegel was featured in a story for Super Lawyers’ magazine entitled “It’s Not Over Till It’s Over. How Memphis attorney David Siegel learned to never give up on a case.”
In a highly publicized wrongful death case, Mr. Siegel represented the family of a firefighter who went on a shooting rampage in March 2000, killing his new wife and several others. Mr. Siegel obtained a confidential settlement from the psychiatrist who examined the firefighter shortly before the incident and failed to warn the man’s wife that she was in danger. Mr. Siegel has obtained favorable results in the millions of dollars in numerous catastrophic injury cases over the years, including but not limited to victims of paralysis caused by the negligence of others, swimming pool negligence at an apartment complex resulting in the death of a child, catastrophic trucking collisions, and nursing home negligence. Mr. Siegel has always had an affinity for the underdog and takes great pride in representing victims and their families against big corporations, insurance companies, and other businesses as a result of their negligent and sometimes intentional misconduct.
Mr. Siegel has practiced before the Tennessee Supreme Court, United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas, the intermediate appellate courts for the State of Tennessee, and multiple trial courts throughout the western, middle, and eastern portions of Tennessee. He has tried numerous jury and bench trials over the years since he began practicing law in 1986.
Currently, Mr. Siegel chairs the firm’s Catastrophic Injury Practice Group and is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association. He is also a talented musician who plays the drums as well as some guitar and piano. Recently, he has taken up woodworking as a hobby.
