Overview
Shelby began her professional career teaching high school after earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Her tenure as an educator illuminated the systemic challenges her students and their families sometimes faced. This compelled her to transition from the classroom to the courtroom as a more direct advocate for her community.
After graduating from The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, Shelby served in the Justice Review Unit in the Shelby County District Attorney's Office. Unlike conventional prosecutors, her role focused on holding the legal system accountable by investigating and remedying miscarriages of justice. Her work in the Justice Review Unit directly contributed to exonerations for multiple individuals wrongfully convicted of crimes they didn't commit. Today, she brings that same relentless commitment to justice to criminal defense, allowing her to protect her client's rights on the front end before system failures occur.
A proud Bluff City native, Shelby spends her free time out on the Greenline, taking her three dogs to Shelby Farms Park, or enjoying the city's vibrant arts scene. Above all, she is honored to live, work, and advocate for the community she loves.
