Overview
A Nashville native, Ben has spent his entire legal career with Raybin & Weissman since graduating from Vanderbilt University Law School in 2010, where he was a member of the Law Review. Prior to law school, Ben attended the University of Chicago, graduating with honors.
From 2011 to 2012, Ben took a one-year hiatus from the firm to serve as a law clerk for Judges Jane B. Stranch and Gilbert S. Merritt, both of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Ben practices primarily in the areas of criminal defense, civil rights, general civil litigation, appeals, and clemency. He has briefed and argued cases before the Tennessee Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals, and the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Ben appears regularly on television and print news giving interviews on trending legal cases and issues.
Ben is actively involved in the Nashville legal community. He has presented at numerous continuing education programs for attorneys. He currently serves as First Vice President of the Nashville Bar Association and on the hearing committee for the Board of Professional Responsibility. He has previously served on the Board of Directors for TACDL (Tennessee Association for Criminal Defense Attorneys) and the Nashville Temple. He is a graduate of the Nashville Bar Foundation Leadership Forum and the Citizens Academy programs for the TBI, TDOC, Metro Police, and Tennessee Highway Patrol.
Outside of work, Ben coaches the University School of Nashville high school mock trial team, which has won multiple championships and placed seventh in the nation in 2024. He enjoys going to Titans games, attending concerts, and spending time with his wife, daughter, and three cats.
