Attorney Information
Overview
Alejandra Galvan focuses her practice on representing and protecting the constitutional rights of Texas landowners facing eminent-domain lawsuits.
Alejandra grew up on a ranch in Waxahachie, Texas and learned the value of hard work through the early morning routines required to care for livestock. Growing up on a ranch shaped her work ethic and has benefited her in her practice of law. She earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 2020. During her time at the Law Center, Alejandra was elected as the Student Bar Association’s President, was elected as the Chair of the American Bar Association’s Minority Caucus, and clerked with the 190th Judicial District Court. Before law school, she graduated with honors from Sam Houston State University in 2017. During her undergraduate career, Alejandra was appointed as President of the Center for Law, Engagement, and Politics, and was a founding member of Sam Houston’s moot court team. Alejandra also worked for Senator Kolkhorst at the Texas Capital where she was exposed to the legislative side of eminent domain. Alejandra also gained experience at the Walker County District Attorney’s Office.
As an attorney, Alejandra has had the opportunity to defend landowners across the state of Texas. Alejandra’s cases have involved takings of vacant land, large ranches, residential properties, shopping centers, restaurants, apartment complexes, c-stores, and schools. She has defended property owners against various condemning authorities including local municipalities, the Texas Attorney General’s office, counties, pipeline companies, and utility companies.
Alejandra is passionate about representing landowners and educating everyone of their rights when faced with condemnation. Alejandra presented on the topic of eminent domain at the National Eminent Domain and Land Valuation Litigation Conference in 2023, at the 2023 Halfmoon Texas Eminent Domain Lecture, and at various Town Hall meetings. Alejandra was also honored to be asked to teach the 2021 Harris County Special Commissioner’s Training by the County Court at Law Judges of Harris County. She is also one of two Junior Co-chairs of the Texas Eminent Domain Conference that is held in Houston annually.
Alejandra is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Houston Young Lawyers Association, the Mexican American Bar Association, the Hispanic Bar Association, the Christian Legal Society, and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. She also volunteers her free time to the Worklife Institute, a non-profit organization founded to provide educational programs, skills, and resources for our veterans.
