Attorney Information

Overview

In the words of her peers, Allison Bowers "represents the very best of the legal profession - smart, honest, caring, and extremely capable." Born and raised in a small Texas town, Allison's approach to law reflects her grounded, practical roots. Allison is a frequent speaker and has been named to the Best Lawyers and Texas Super Lawyer lists.

Allison practiced as a commercial litigator with Baker Botts LLP for over ten years before co-founding Hutcheson Bowers LLLP in 2011. Currently, her practice focuses on consumer disputes for financial technology companies and advising employers on various aspects of employment law.

Allison oversees the management of a national arbitration and litigation docket of consumer disputes for one of the country's largest digital banks. Since 2015, together with her partner Shannon Hutcheson, Allison has been at the forefront of defending fintechs and banks in consumer litigation over violations of the Electronic Funds Transfer Act. Allison and her firm represent some of the leaders in the fintech industry including a pioneer in the prepaid debit industry, several of the top leading digital banks in the country, and the inventor of the credit builder account as well as the issuing banks that partner with our fintech clients.

Allison also maintains her employment law practice, which she's had since 2000. Allison's sensible and sympathetic perspective make her especially sought after as a workplace investigator and counselor on difficult employee management issues. Allison has several clients she's represented for decades.

After busy days at work, Allison enjoys peacefully tending to her orchids, some of which she's had for over 10 years. Her oldest plant, a philodendron, is over 30 years old and has survived being dug up and hauled all over Austin. Her husband and teenage daughter often try to interrupt her, but she's learned to tune them out. Allison was born a Longhorn and has been to many momentous sporting events in her lifetime, including the 2005 Rose Bowl when Texas won the national championship, also known as the greatest college football game of all time.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
