Overview
Charles E. Zech is a Partner/Shareholder in the Firm and has over 20 years of experience in the representation of various local government entities, including cities, counties, economic development corporations, tax increment reinvestment zones and others. Mr. Zech is Past President of the Board of Directors of the Texas City Attorneys Association (TCAA) and former board member of the Texas Municipal League Board of Directors. He is an International Municipal Lawyers Association (IMLA) Local Government Fellow and previously served as Chair of its Ethics Section. He is a member of the Texas City Managers Association, The Texas City Attorney's Association, has served as Faculty speaker to the Suing and Defending Governmental Entities State Bar Program and as faculty on the University of Texas Land Use Seminar planning committee since 2005. He is the 2011 recipient of State Bar of Texas Governmental Section Outstanding Government Lawyer Award. Mr. Zech is a past Adjunct Professor at Texas State University where he taught Problems in Public Law. In connection with his work on his Masters in Public Administration, Mr. Zech completed an update of Terrell Blodgett's 1994 monograph on Texas Home Rule Charters. That research resulted in a comprehensive review of the content and policies of Home Rule Charters in Texas.
Mr. Zech is a proud veteran and of the U.S. Navy and the Gulf War. During his time of service Mr. Zech earned a Meritorious Unit Accommodation and a National Defense Service Medal among other accolades.
