Attorney Information
Overview
David Komie graduated from Florida Atlantic University on a tennis scholarship. He had a brief and humbling stint on a small pro tour before he decided to attend Mercer University's Walter F. George School of Law.
In law school, David eventually made his way onto the Mercer Law Review, faring much better than he did on the tennis court. After graduating in the summer of 1989, David began working for the Atlanta insurance defense firm of Chambers, Mabry, McClelland & Brooks. Under the mentorship of the legendary Bo Chambers, David successfully tried 30 solo jury trials without a loss.
THE CASE THAT CHANGE HIS LIFE
The last case that David tried with Chambers, Mabry, McClelland & Brooks was a plaintiff's case. David was hooked, having helped an individual rather than a large insurance company. So, in 1994, David left the dark side and has been representing regular folks against rich and powerful insurance companies ever since. The experience of being in the camp of the enemy and learning how they think has proven to be extremely helpful to the injured people that David represents, and today he has been awarded the Top 10 Award for Personal Injury.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
