Attorney Information
Overview
Meagan Jones has a knack for filtering through the noise and helping her clients reach favorable resolutions during challenging circumstances. Meagan is passionate about not only guiding her clients through the difficult litigation process, but also making sure that they understand each step along the way. Her goal as a practitioner is to assist clients in being stronger, healthier individuals and families on the other side of litigation.
Contrary to the long-standing joke that lawyers aren’t good at math, Meagan excels in mathematics and uses her skills to focus on innovative solutions to intricate financial situations, including complex assets and businesses within the marital estate. However, her creative solutions do not end there. Meagan understands that each family is unique and therefore each person deserves their own individual approach and personal attention. Recognizing this, Meagan pursues each matter with veracity and integrity that it deserves.
Meagan grew up near the beach in Los Angeles, Ca. and received her bachelor degree from the University of Southern California (USC). Go Trojans!! After several years of successful entrepreneurship, Meagan decided to follow her passion and attend law school. Ultimately, Meagan pursued law school on an honors scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Western Michigan University, Cooley Law School. As another example of Meagan’s long list of achievements and dedication to the practice of law, she has connected her California roots to those that she has laid in Texas – she is licensed to practice law in both Texas and California.
Meagan lives in South Austin with her husband, Marty, her daughter, Zoe, and her giant beast dogs. In addition to her family and her dogs, Meagan’s favorite things include food, travelling, the great outdoors, and live music, making Austin the perfect city.
FUN FACT: Meagan and Nikki’s partnership is proof that LinkedIn works. They originally met when Meagan relocated to Austin and was seeking connections with other family law attorneys. A few emails later, and the rest is history.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
