Hutcheson Bowers LLLP
Austin Labor and Employment Law Lawyer
Overview
Whether it be for the firm's financial services clients or employment law clients, Shannon is known for her strategic advice that never loses sight of the business objectives. As one client said, Shannon is "always spot-on, practical, and efficient. She comes up with creative solutions that avoid costly litigation but, if litigation is the endgame, then she is the lawyer you want."
Shannon divides her time between advising the firm's financial services clients, overseeing the firm's AAA consumer dispute docket, and advising the firm's employment law clients on complex compliance issues. Being Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Shannon is often called on to conduct independent investigations, lead employment-related litigation or tackle the most vexing employment law problems for the firm's clients.
After law school, Shannon practiced as a commercial litigator with the global firm of Baker Botts LLP for over twelve years before launching a solo practice and then co-founding Hutcheson Bowers LLLP in 2011.
Shannon loves fundraising for her favorite causes and political candidates, and serving on nonprofit and professional boards of directors. She and her family bleed burnt orange and you can often find them at University of Texas sporting events cheering on the Horns.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
