    Hired Law firm 1987
I don’t know if there’s attorney is still disbarred, but I wanna write a review about his ineffective council for a case against me in Lampasas Texas. I was charged with possession of methamphetamine and I was not in possession of anything as I was not in the vehicle, where the methamphetamine was confiscated from the Lampasas, Texas I was in my own vehicle. I was set up by the Lampasas Police Department, and when I hired Tommy Sheffield, he did nothing for me. He forced me to play guilty for a crime that I did not commit. Any lawyer could see from the moment the police were there. I was not in the vehicle. I was in my vehicle. I was charged with possession and there was no way I would been convicted if I would’ve took it to trial. This man is a pitiful excuse for an attorney and he has proven it. How do you get charged with possession when you’re not even in the vehicle where they found the drugs under the passenger seat in his shirt the driver of the vehicle, which was a van was working for the police department and set me up I was nowhere near the van or inside the van when they searched it and found the drugs so ask yourself how could that be possession? I don’t even know till this day how much drugs were in there

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
