Overview

Practice Emphasis

Hunter Ralston represents clients in commercial/business Litigation, construction law, and tort litigation practice areas. As a young attorney, Hunter gained invaluable experience at a prominent full service law firm, drafting and arguing motions for summary judgment, taking and defending depositions, and trying cases involving a range of disputes that include tort/premises liability, insurance coverage disputes, evidentiary spoilation, residential and commercial construction defects, trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, fraud, and tortious interference claims.

Hunter earned his law degree cum laude at Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. As a student, Hunter competed at the national level on the ABA Mock Arbitration and the ABA Client Counseling Teams, and regionally on multiple mock trial and moot court teams. He was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, a nationally recognized honor society for outstanding student advocates. Hunter also served as an extern for Hon. Renee H. Toliver of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas and as a judicial intern for Hon. Martin Hoffman of the 68th Judicial District Court in Dallas County. In his final semester of law school, Hunter received his student bar card and was selected to join the SMU Civil and Consumer Law Clinic to serve those in Dallas/Fort Worth who would not otherwise be able to afford an attorney.

Before law school, Hunter graduated magna cum laude from Texas Tech University with a B.A. in Economics, where he served in student politics, in the Interfraternity Council, and was a congressional intern in Washington, DC during the 115th United States Congress. After making lifelong connections in West Texas, Hunter returned to North Dallas where he was born and raised. In his free time, Hunter enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking, and going on adventures with his wife and dog, Copper.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
