Overview
Jose I. Sanchez is a founding member of the Jose Sanchez Law Firm, PC, in Longview, Texas. Since 2001, Jose has championed the rights of immigrants and those hurt in accidents, and has sued the government for violations of immigrants’ rights. He is a trial lawyer with numerous million-dollar personal injury verdicts including deaths and severe injury cases involving auto and workplace accidents. Being an immigrant himself, Jose had organized and led marches in East Texas in 2006 with over 4,000 in attendance, a part of the nationwide movement that was reported on by the New York Times.
Jose attended the Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, on an academic scholarship where he was the President of the Latino students. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree, he earned his Juris Doctorate from the Texas Tech Law School in Lubbock, Texas. Later, Jose received his Master’s in Public Administration degree from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
Jose was also selected to be one of twenty Texas attorneys to be chosen to participate in the prestigious 2010-2011 Texas State Bar Leadership Program, and had won the best leader award from the group. Along with numerous million dollar wins for his personal injury clients, along with his colleagues, Jose had the top verdict in Texas for a workplace accident of $2.5 million in 2019.
Jose regularly appears on television and travels throughout the United States fighting and marching for an immigration reform and meeting with important national leaders. He is sought out by local media, businesses, and groups to speak at various events and programs. For the last 17 years in East Texas, Jose has maintained a weekly radio show in Spanish in which he discusses current news and politics that affect the Latino community and legal advice.
An immigrant from Mexico City, Mexico, Jose moved with his family to the United States at age 5, and was raised in Longview, Texas. He enjoys running, working out, sports, and traveling within the United States and internationally.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
