Attorney Information

Overview

Ryan Eady is a Board Certified Criminal Law Specialist by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a Senior Trial Attorney at Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Board Certification in Criminal Law is a distinction earned by a small percentage of Texas attorneys who demonstrate substantial experience, advanced continuing legal education, and successful completion of a rigorous examination. With more than 14 years of courtroom experience and over 75 felony jury trials as lead counsel, Mr. Eady has handled some of the most serious criminal cases in Texas. His experience leading felony prosecutions and managing criminal litigation provides valuable insight into how the State evaluates evidence, develops trial strategy, and pursues convictions.

Mr. Eady began his legal career in 2012 as an Assistant District Attorney in Midland County, where he prosecuted felony offenses and later served as Lead Domestic Violence Prosecutor. In 2017, he joined the Johnson and Somervell County District Attorney's Office and was appointed Chief Felony Prosecutor for the 413th District Court. In that role, he supervised felony prosecutions, led trial teams, handled asset forfeiture proceedings, and represented the State in civil commitment matters. He also argued seven appeals before Texas Courts of Appeals, further expanding his experience in complex criminal litigation.

In 2022, Mr. Eady was promoted to First Assistant District Attorney, becoming the senior managing attorney responsible for prosecutorial operations across three district courts. This leadership role provided extensive experience evaluating criminal investigations, reviewing evidence, making charging decisions, negotiating plea agreements, and preparing cases for trial. It also provided a comprehensive understanding of how prosecutors assess risk, allocate resources, and make strategic decisions throughout the life of a criminal case.

After more than a decade representing the State, Mr. Eady transitioned to criminal defense, bringing with him firsthand knowledge of how criminal cases are investigated, charged, negotiated, and tried. He now uses that experience to identify weaknesses in the prosecution's evidence and build strategic defenses for clients facing criminal charges.

Before joining Michael & Associates Criminal Defense Attorneys as a Senior Trial Attorney in 2025, he served as Senior Counsel at Curnutt & Hafer, L.L.P., where he continued developing his reputation as a skilled courtroom advocate.

Today, Mr. Eady focuses exclusively on defending individuals facing DWI charges, violent crime allegations, domestic violence accusations, drug offenses, theft crimes, weapons charges, white-collar offenses, and other misdemeanor and felony charges throughout Texas. Having served as lead counsel in more than 75 felony jury trials, he understands how criminal cases are won and lost in the courtroom and prepares every case with trial readiness in mind.

In addition to his trial experience, Mr. Eady has completed specialized training in Digital and Computer Forensics through the United States Secret Service. This training provides valuable insight into the collection, preservation, and analysis of electronic evidence, allowing him to effectively challenge digital evidence presented by the prosecution when appropriate.

Mr. Eady earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Tech University before obtaining his Juris Doctor from Texas A&M University School of Law. His educational background and extensive courtroom experience contribute to his analytical approach to case preparation and trial strategy.

A native Texan, Mr. Eady is committed to providing strategic, trial-focused representation to individuals facing criminal charges. He believes every client deserves experienced counsel, honest communication, and a defense built on thorough preparation, sound judgment, and relentless advocacy.
