    Hired Law firm 2023-2024
Attorney Shannon Lang represented our homeowners association and was ultimately terminated for misconduct and unethical behavior. She told the court she would not bill our association, yet later sent invoices anyway. She also participated in an unauthorized lawsuit, which resulted in over $33,000 in unnecessary legal expenses — a significant amount for a community of just 100 homes. Ms. Lang was reprimanded by the judge during court proceedings and has shown a consistent pattern of acting in her own interest rather than the association’s. Her involvement contributed to the mishandling of association funds, seemingly to ensure that she was paid. Despite multiple written requests for copies of financial records and documentation, Ms. Lang has failed to provide any transparency or accountability. Her behavior has been petty, vindictive, and unprofessional, and her legal advice has directly harmed our community. In my opinion, Attorney Shannon Lang cannot be trusted to represent any association or client in good faith. Do not hire her. I will also be filing my complaint with the Texas Bar Association, October 2025.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
