Hired Attorney 2021Horrible lawyer, 10 hours agoNEW I was attacked and beaten, and when I called the cops for help. They took me to jail. My attacker lied and the cops lied on the report. And finally my attacker confessed. And This lawyer was shaking in her boots when she forced me to take probation. She said that it was my only option. She wouldn't even accept the attackers confession. A guy had the same charge and got a P.R. bond and she told me that the judge wouldn't do that for me. I asked for a bond reduction after doing four months in jail, and she said it wasn't available for my case. I tried to get timed served cause I was a trusty, and she lied and said I would have to do another year in jail. This is a horrible lawyer who only works for the DA. She does not care that I had a son and a wife to go home to. And I was innocent with proof!! This lawyer definitely needs to get fired. Do not choose this lawyer for your own good.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
