When people are hurt in life-changing accidents, they need a lawyer who won’t back down from a challenge. Adam Lewis has faced some of the biggest companies in the world at trial and won. No matter how tough the fight, he’s prepared to put everything into getting his clients the best results.
Adam’s practice focuses primarily on catastrophic personal injury, maritime and offshore cases, commercial vehicle cases, premises liability, and wrongful death. He’s worked on all manner of cases—from disasters reported on nationally to serious accidents at the local level. Whatever his clients are facing, he’s prepared to take on any challenge for his clients.
Adam Lewis was born in Clear Lake, Texas. His father worked his entire career in the oil and gas industry, so Adam grew up living in Texas, Louisiana, Nigeria, Scotland, and England. After graduating high school in England, he returned to Texas to attend college at Texas Tech University. Following college, Adam lived in Houston, Texas and Park City, UT where he worked in various fields within the legal industry, including pharmaceutical litigation, commercial trucking focusing on intermodal transportation, as well as litigation support and technology. These diverse work experiences honed Adam his passion for helping others and inspired him to pursue a law degree at South Texas College of Law. During law school Adam clerked for Arnold & Itkin, graduating from South Texas College of Law cum laude. He joined Arnold & Itkin as a trial lawyer in 2016.
Since joining Arnold & Itkin, Adam has been recognized with numerous awards for his work, including being named a Top 40 under 40 by the National Trial Lawyers, joining the Million and Multi-Million Dollar Advocate Forums, being named a Sustaining Life Member of the Texas Bar Foundation, and being part of the trial team that secured a Top 20, as well as a Top 50, Personal Injury Verdict for the State of Texas. Adam has also been part of trial teams that have secured some of the largest settlements in both Texas and Louisiana history. Specifically, Adam was part of the trial teams that secured record settlements in the amount of $171 million related to a Louisiana plant explosion, $357 million related to a Texas plant explosion, $120 million related to a Louisiana plant explosion, and $139 million as part of a deadly pipeline explosion.
Some of the other recent results Adam helped secure include the following:
- $92.7 million settlement for man injured in a plant explosion
- $35.5 million settlement in wrongful death commercial vehicle accident
- $33 million verdict for a man injured in a plant explosion
- $12.5 million settlement for an injured man by electrocution
- $10 million settlement for a wrongful death commercial vehicle accident
- $8 million settlement for a commercial vehicle accident
- $8 million settlement for an offshore platform explosion
- $7.5 million settlement for a wrongful death tire detread case
- $5.5 million verdict on behalf of a commercial truck driver injured in an accident
- $5.5 million settlement for man injured in a crane accident

- $800,000 verdict for a commercial vehicle accident

Over his career at Arnold & Itkin, Adam has acted as trial counsel and lead trial counsel in record-setting jury verdicts. In 2018, Adam was part of the trial team that secured a $33 million verdict obtained related to a pulp and paper explosion that was tried in Harris County, Texas. This was a top 20 jury verdict in the State of Texas that year. In 2020, Adam acted as lead trial counsel for a woman who was injured in a serious motor vehicle accident case in Brazos County, Texas. After aggressively trying the case, Adam and his team were able to secure a favorable verdict that is one of the largest jury verdicts in Brazos County, Texas over the past decade. This was the top 23 jury verdict in the State of Texas for 2020, and a top 100 verdict in the entire United States for motor vehicle accidents.
Adam has extensive experience dealing with maritime trials, including involving Limitation of Liability. In these types of cases, vessel owners attempt to avoid responsibility by filing a lawsuit under the antiquated Limitation of Liability Act of 1851. This 170-year-old law allows fleet owners and shipping companies to hide behind the value of their ship after they’ve committed acts of negligence. For instance, if a crew member is injured in an offshore incident, the company can limit the worker’s total recovery to the ship’s monetary worth. In situations where a ship is completely lost, a company can limit a worker’s recovery to zero—essentially robbing them of compensation. Adam has acted as lead trial counsel in numerous Limitation of Liability trials successfully defeating this archaic rule.
In 2022, Adam was lead counsel for a trial that occurred in Wayne County, Michigan, where he and his team obtained a verdict in excess of $5.5 million on behalf of an injured commercial truck driver. The case involved a truck-on-truck accident against a trucking company based in Wayne County, MI. Leading up to the trial, the defendants refused to accept responsibility for the harm they caused and only offered $150,000. After a two and a half week trial, the jury issued a unanimous verdict exceeding $5.5 million in damages against the defendants. This verdict is one of the largest single-event personal injury verdicts in Wayne County for 2022 and was named a top 30 commercial trucking verdict in the entire United States that year.
He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Louisiana both at the state and federal levels.
Outside of work, Adam enjoys spending time with his wife Sarah, their twins George and Grace Louise, as well as cheering on the Houston Astros and Texas Tech football.
