Attorney Information
Overview
Throughout his career, Brian has obtained key victories for clients across the country. He began his career as a judicial clerk in state and federal trial courts, including for Chief Judge Roger L. Hunt in the Federal District Court of Nevada. As a law clerk, Brian honed his writing expertise, assisted with numerous civil and criminal trials, and observed the nuances of judicial decision-making firsthand.
In pursuit of litigation at the highest levels, Brian took his career to a corporate law firm in Washington D.C., where he practiced complex commercial litigation, including in suits against multinational banks for their role in the subprime mortgage crisis. He was also a member of the trial team that obtained the largest jury verdict in the United States that year and the largest price-fixing verdict in the country’s history.
Inspired by helping others, Brian then applied himself in service to the public as an Assistant Attorney General for the Utah Office of the Attorney General. Beginning in 2016, he prosecuted anticompetitive and negligent corporate conduct in coordination with federal agencies and states across the country, facilitating the recovery of hundreds of thousands of dollars for injured consumers. Brian also testified numerous times before the Utah legislature, participated as a presenter and panelist in continuing legal education, and counseled harmed individuals and businesses.
Throughout his career, Brian has zealously applied and argued the law on behalf of his clients. When presented in 2021 with the opportunity to help ensure that any client of Arnold & Itkin receives the highest level of appellate support, he embraced it as a natural fit. He brings to Arnold & Itkin’s clients an indefatigable work ethic, extensive appellate experience—including at oral argument—and determination to reach the best possible outcome.
Brian earned a bachelor’s degree from the top-three-ranked accounting program at Brigham Young University. He received his law degree from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University, where he graduated cum laude and was Lead Note and Comment Editor for the BYU Law Review. His written works appear in that journal as well as the American Antitrust Institute.
A native of Colorado, Brian resides in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he hikes, runs, snowshoes, and skis in its nearby canyons.
