Attorney Information
Overview
Growing up as the daughter of an attorney and a realtor, Clarissa began learning from an early age what it looks like to advocate for her clients and understand the varied factors that impact property values. Now, she draws on that background as she strives to help landowners of various property types ─ commercial, agricultural, residential, and industrial ─ ensure they are compensated fairly for their property when the government exercises its eminent domain authority.
Clarissa represents clients in cases involving a range of issues, including road widening, inverse condemnation, access issues, regulatory impacts, and various types of easements (HVTL, drainage, water/sewer lines, pipelines, and temporary construction).
A dedicated advocate for her clients, Clarissa has successfully argued for and negotiated greater compensation during the administrative phase of condemnation proceedings to achieve significant increases that resolve the case without the need for a trial. When continuing to the judicial phase is necessary, Clarissa works closely with her firm colleagues and industry experts to ensure the best position possible for the best possible result.
Clarissa’s year as a federal judicial clerk afforded her insights and experience that inform her approach when advocating for clients looking to challenge unjust trial court outcomes, whether in the courts of appeal or the Texas Supreme Court.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
