Attorney Information

Overview

Deborah Gedeon is an Associate Attorney at Skillern Firm Divorce and Child Custody Lawyers, where she is dedicated to helping individuals and families navigate some of life’s most challenging legal matters with compassion, diligence, and integrity. Licensed to practice law in both Texas and Florida, Deborah brings a unique perspective shaped by her commitment to advocating for children.

Originally from South Florida, Deborah earned her Juris Doctor from Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida, where she participated in Moot Court and the Black Law Student Association. She later expanded her legal knowledge by earning a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Health Law from the University of Houston Law Center, further strengthening her understanding of complex legal and regulatory issues.

Before joining Skillern Firm, Deborah served as a Children’s Legal Services Attorney with the Florida Department of Children and Families in Naples. In that role, she represented the state’s interests in dependency proceedings, drafted motions and court orders, prepared witnesses for trial, participated in mediations, and worked closely with child welfare professionals and Guardians ad Litem to advocate for children’s safety and well-being. Her experience managing complex cases and appearing regularly in court developed the strong litigation and client advocacy skills she brings to every case today.

Deborah relocated to Houston in 2024 to continue her legal education and obtained her LL.M. degree in health law from the University of Houston Law Center. Her diverse legal experience also includes internships focused on health law, medical malpractice, constitutional issues, and civil litigation, providing her with a broad legal foundation and strong research and writing abilities.

Long before attending law school, Deborah devoted her time to serving children with intellectual disabilities through both volunteer and professional roles. Those experiences inspired her passion for advocacy and continue to influence the empathy and patience she brings to each client relationship.

At Skillern Firm, Deborah understands that family law matters often involve deeply personal and emotional decisions. She is committed to providing thoughtful legal guidance, clear communication, and steadfast advocacy, helping clients move forward with confidence during difficult transitions.
