Overview

At Doehring & Doehring Attorneys at Law, our lawyers offer experienced estate planning, probate, guardianship and estate administration representation in West Houston and throughout our area. With almost 50 years of combined experience, we are able to handle the most challenging and complex estate planning, probate and estate administration matters.

Attorney Richard Doehring is the founding partner of our firm and he is joined by his nephew, attorney David R. Doehring. Together they are able to provide their clients with representation that is welcoming and which understands the potentially complex family matters that can shape estate-related issues. As a family-run law firm, we are proud to be able to offer the real help people need to craft effective estate plans and to be able to navigate the probate and estate administration processes.

We focus on getting to know our clients so that we can craft an estate plan that is individually tailored to their specific circumstances and which can achieve the goals they want to accomplish. We will help you understand how different estate planning tools can help you and ensure that the right remedies are relevant to each client's situation. From wills and trusts to powers of attorney and advance directives as well as guardianship issues, putting the right pieces into place can give you peace of mind; not just about the lives of your loved ones in the future, but about your own life as well. Let us help you build the estate plan you need or act as an effective personal representative to a loved one's estate.

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
