Overview
Johnny Alfred III is a trial lawyer who focuses his practice on workplace injuries, refinery explosions, construction accidents, catastrophic personal injuries, 18-wheeler crashes, auto collisions, real property matters, and patent/intellectual property litigation.
As both an attorney and an engineer, Johnny leverages his practical engineering experience and deep understanding of complex technical issues to help his clients obtain maximum results.
A United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) registered patent attorney, Johnny specializes in the procurement of intellectual property rights through prosecution, and the commercialization and enforcement of established rights by contracts and litigation.
Johnny also dedicates a portion of his practice to issues involving real estate, land development, and municipal entitlements. He has managed hundreds of real property transactions involving public property interests and counseled and advised individuals, governmental entities, corporations, and non-profit organizations on issues involving the development of raw land and a variety of redevelopment projects. Johnny has particular expertise in infrastructure, utility, and right-of-way issues related to single-family, multifamily, mixed-use, and industrial development projects.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Johnny spent several years working as a project engineer for one of the largest engineering, procurement, and construction firms in the world. In this role, he managed teams of engineers who designed and constructed liquified natural gas projects all over the globe. His engineering experience also includes the design of modular process skids for offshore drilling platforms and the programming of refinery process control systems.
Johnny completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. He received his Juris Doctor from South Texas College of Law Houston, where he was a decorated member of the nationally renowned Advocacy Program. During his law school advocacy career, Johnny won first-place honors while earning Best Oralist and Best Brief awards in the Spurgeon Bell Moot Court Competition. He also was a semifinalist in both the National Veterans Law Moot Court Competition in Washington, D.C., and the William E. McGee National Civil Rights Moot Court Competition in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Johnny is licensed to practice law in Texas as well as the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is an Advisory Board Member of the Drayer Department of Electrical Engineering at Lamar University, a Texas Bar Foundation Fellow, and a member of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association and multiple other professional organizations. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and family, watching sports, and grilling.
