Overview
Kala has seen the inside of the courtroom more than most lawyers twice her age—and her results show it. In addition to courtroom advocacy, Kala prides herself on her ability to understand the larger picture of cases, considering all perspectives to best fight for the results her clients need. She’s methodical with her research and briefing, working diligently to achieve more than her clients might’ve thought possible.
This approach has allowed Kala to recover extraordinary settlements, including:

Kala’s case experience includes a full array of personal injury catastrophes. She has represented survivors burned in explosions, injured in commercial vehicle wrecks, and permanently harmed while working offshore, as well as all types of industrial accidents. She has also worked extensively on mass pharmaceutical cases involving harmful drugs injuring innocent victims across the country.
Before becoming a trial lawyer, Kala showed her capacity for hard work and ambition. She grew up in Houston before relocating to North Carolina and enrolling at Duke University for her undergraduate studies. After excelling in political science and pre-law courses, Kala received a scholarship to Baylor Law School.
Kala graduated from Baylor Law School as a five-time Dean’s List student. During law school, she joined the ABA Labor Law Mock Trial Team, the AAJ National Mock Trial Team, and the NCTC Mock Trial Team. Her mock trial career reached its zenith when she was a semifinalist in the Baylor Top Gun Competition, an intra-scholastic mock trial tournament involving all third-year Practice Court students.
After law school, Kala sharpened her litigation skills at a small Houston firm that handled various personal injury cases in state and federal court. From there, she joined Arnold & Itkin, where her ambition and passion for advocacy found a natural home.
Her practice focuses primarily on matters involving catastrophic personal injury, offshore accidents, and large commercial vehicle accidents. She is licensed to practice in Louisiana and Texas but handles cases across the United States. She has been recognized as a Super Lawyers® Rising Star™ multiple years in a row.
Since joining the firm, Kala has married her loving and understanding husband and has expanded her family with two young boys. She enjoys spending her free time being a mother, which can sometimes be just as challenging as tackling trial, in her opinion.
