Richard Weaver has been the go-to real estate lawyer for my business. He has experience in a wide rage of real estate and business law. He has assisted with setting up my real estate investment business, leases, disputes with tenants, handling situations that occur on my real property, construction and construction contracts and general counsel. I am grateful for his quick response an always looking out for my best interest, financially and otherwise.

I am new to the world of real estate investing. As I purchased a couple of new investment properties, I became overwhelmed with the amount of legalities involved, I literally signed 100 pages! I realized I needed to consult with an attorney and have him to review all the legal documents, to make sure I was protecting myself and my investments. Attorney Richard Weaver not only reviewed my purchase agreements and closing documents, he contacted title agents and made them comply when they were providing lackluster service and erroneous documents. I was thrilled to be able to say that "my attorney will handle that" as Richard is passionate about defending and protecting his clients! He even advised me with some investing tips as he is truly knowledgeable about everything real estate! Richard Weaver is my real estate attorney and, as a real estate investor, I feel confident in recommending him to anyone who needs sharp and thorough representation!

I hired The Weaver Law Firm in early 2019 and was working with Matthew Williams from the very beginning. Mr Weaver and Mr. Williams parted ways and I went with Mr. Williams since I had been working with him from the start and he knew my case inside and out. Mr. Weaver didn’t like that I did that and called me trying to belittle me and threaten me if I went with Mr. Williams. Now that time has past he is now suing me and Mr. Williams. After I’ve paid The Weaver Law Firm well over $10k we only got to the discovery and nowhere else in the case due to Mr. Weaver charging me outrageous fees for stuff a legal assistant should’ve been doing but I was getting charged for everything at the Lawyer rate which is understandable for certain things but not everything like his firm was doing. If I could give this scum 0 stars I would but they only allow half stars.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
