Hired Attorney 2016-2019Where to begin. First, this woman might have a "law degree" but she is no lawyer. My grandfather chose her to represent his estate in the months prior to his death; the purpose to write up wills and finalize outstanding business my grandmother and he had. Unfortunately, my grandfather was manipulated by his eldest daughter into buying her a home before he and my grandmother died, and then into becoming the sole executor of their estates. After their deaths the executor along with this "attorney" ruined my grandparents good name, and cost their estate thousands of dollars. This end of life attorney failed to advise my grandfather he would need to take his deceased son off his beneficiary lists for stocks and replace him with another heir; my grandfather died thinking I would inherit my fathers equal 1/4 share of said stocks. This attorney has allowed an estate with almost no debt, a paid for home, car, RV, and a two clear cut and dry wills to continue to be unsettled for over two years approaching 3 years. This attorney, refuses to communicate with heirs to the estate; and has befriended the executor on a personal level bending to her will and overlooking the law for her. The executor has been allowed to steal from the estate, and this lawyer knows about it and has refused to do anything about it. If you are looking for an end of life attorney; this lady might be cheap, I wouldn't know she has swindled my grandparents estate for more than $10,000, however, she does not have the interest of her clients at heart. This attorney does not know basic law, she carries a law book to court. This attorney does not have a real office, she has a room in her husbands dental practice, and a phone she never answers or returns phone calls from. BE AWARE of this criminal, do not let her take advantage of your family as she has done mine in their most vulnerable state.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
